Open Access Forum, 22-23 November 2011

The first expert group meeting on Open Access issues started today at UNESCO on 22 November 2011. During this event, the participants will discuss how to operationalize the UNESCO Open Access strategy approved by the Executive Board of UNESCO during its 187th session, and how to create a network collaborative platform to promote Open Access to scientific information and research.
The experts will focus on: - Key global trends in Open Access to scientific information and research; - How to operationalize the UNESCO Open Access strategy, including identifying partners and extra-budgetary funding sources; and - Contributing project ideas and new trends for future biennia covered in the strategy.The workshop outcomes will strengthen UNESCO's role in the field of Open Access (OA), and enable UNESCO to provide support to Member States in implementing OA projects and policies.
